Licencing


According to the Atomic Act No. 18/1997 Coll. a licence for the radioactive waste management; siting, construction, operation and decommissioning of the radioactive waste repository; handling of ionising radiation sources; etc. is required. The licence is issued by State Office for Nuclear Safety (SUJB) following a licensing process having to be supplemented by the documents submitted by the applicant and approved by SUJB. The extent of requirements needed for licensing process is set by the Appendix D of the Atomic Act.

The documents submitted by RAWRA for approval are e.g. Monitoring Plan, QA Plan, Controlled Area Delimitation, Proposal of Decommissioning Plan, Emergency Plan. Limits and Conditions of Operation and Waste Acceptance Conditions are set by SUJB following the results of safety assessment provided by applicant.

Valid licences related to the radioactive waste management and operation of existing repositories are:

  • Operation of installation - Bratrství repository - valid until 15.12.2013
  • Operation of nuclear installation - Richard Repository - valid until 30.10.2013
  • Management of radioactive waste - disposal and storage at Richard Repository - valid until 30.10.2013
  • Operation of nuclear installation- Dukovany Repository - valid until 15.12.20012
  • Management of radioactive waste - disposal at Dukovany Repository - valid until 15.12.2012
